How to plan a one day itenary in Krabi

With lockdown restrictions beginning to ease and world travel becoming a possibility, it's time you started planning that long-overdue getaway! For such a post-lockdown holiday, an escape to a coastal setting where you can also experience a rich culture and thrilling adventures is ideal; the good news is, such a destination can be found on the west coast of Thailand; Krabi offers all this and more and here's a guide to help you get started on the itinerary.

Keep Transport in Mind

Before getting into the itinerary, you do need to keep transport in mind. Those arriving by air will land at the Krabi International Airport; it's only around 7 km from the city centre and within easy reach of well-known areas such as Ao Nang.

From the airport, you can make use of a public bus service which offers connections to both Krabi Town and Ao Nang. It runs from around 8:00am to 8:00pm and the journey is relatively cheap, though you could have to wait a while. Alternate options are available and include catching an airport taxi or making use of a private car service which some hotels will arrange for you.

Plan Your Accommodation

Being a popular destination for tourists, accommodation in Krabi is diverse and caters to all budgets and travellers, be they solo adventures or holidaying with families or partners. It's important you research ahead, read guest reviews and check-out online offers on official hotel websites.

Find a place where you are going to be spending a lot of time and which suits your interests. If you are on a tight budget you could consider hostels in Krabi Town or if you want a getaway by the coast, Ao Nang beach hotels are well-suited. Depending on your itinerary, find a home away from home that offers convenience, comfort and safety.

Make a List of Sites to See

Travellers are spoilt for choice when it comes to attractions in Krabi which is why it's important to make a list of the places you want to see depending on how much time you have. To experience local culture, visiting some of the temples is well worth doing especially the Tiger Cave Temple; to reach the top you will have to climb 1,237 steps and at the summit, there's a huge golden statue of the Buddha along with stunning panoramas.

Other sacred sites you can visit include Wat Klong Thom and Wat Kaew Korawaram. Nature lovers can head to the Khao Pra-Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary and the nearby Klong Thom Hot Springs; here you can enjoy a healing soak in waters heated by volcanic chambers and rich in mineral salts. A similar allure can be found in the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park home to the Emerald Pool which features hot springs.

Explore Local Beaches

Of course, amongst the most popular places to visit are the beaches in Krabi. There are several sublime shorelines here which are great for just soaking up the sun and chilling by the ocean. Set amidst limestone cliffs and accessible by boat, Railay Beach with its white sands and clear waters is well worth exploring on your holiday.

For more unwinding by the coast, Ao Nang Beach makes an ideal choice and offer fun-filled days in the sun, sand and surf. Accommodation in the area is easy to find with properties the likes of Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort providing an ideal base for excursions too. Another well-known shoreline you can visit is Nopparat Thara Beach where you will find relative seclusion and a laid-back setting to work on your tan or enjoy a dip in the ocean.

Plan Exciting Activities

Those looking to add a bit of excitement to their holiday have plenty of thrilling things to do in Krabi as well. One of the most popular being rock climbing which gives you a chance to enjoy guided adventures to scale various karst cliffs. You can also consider kayaking, a fun way to explore nearby islands and mangroves home to wildlife too.
