How to plan your trip to Bali – Experience the beauty that is Bali!

Bali is a beautiful and spiritual destination for many travellers, with many things to do and see. This tranquil island has stretches of lush paddy fields, breath-taking coral beaches, and temples to explore and engage in a variety of experiences.

Best time to visit

The most ideal time to travel to Bali is during the dry season, which is between April and September. 

Of course, when you visit during the rainy period everything will be more affordable. However, you will have to put up with a copious amount of rain. But it also noted that it will rain for several hours a day. So with a bit of pre-planning, it is not such a bad idea. Some days it may not even rain at all, and there again it may for days on end. If you are up for some unpredictability go for it. 

Pick the best places to visit

There are amazing places to discover in Bali, however, it will depend on your itinerary and the number of days you have to spend in Bali. Regardless of the time, here are some of the places you shouldn't miss.

Pura Tanha Lot is one of Bali's most sacred Hindu temples, it is located around 20 km northwest of Kuta and built on a rocky surrounding facing spectacular sea views. Although foreigners are not allowed inside the temples, the vibe here is something to experience. You can walk across the main temple during low tide to witness the many shrines. 

Seminyak is a popular beach town in Bali is known for its stretches of sandy beaches and a great spot for shopping. You will find many genuine Balinese design boutiques dotted on its streets.

Nusa Islands are a group of three islands located 20 km offshore from Sanur. The natural beauty is astounding. You can engage in a range of water sports on crystal-clear beaches. 

Tirta Empul Temple is dated 960 AD and is found in the middle of a lush tropical forest. The temple is split into three courtyards and a pool, where most of the religious rituals are held. Foreigner visitors can participate in the rites with locals providing it is appropriately done as per local custom.

Kuta Beach is a lovely stretch of coastline famous for surfing. Surfing lessons and gear can be easily booked and rented from beachside vendors. 

Sekumpul Waterfall is located 99 km from Ubud and is considered to be the most beautiful waterfall in Bali. You can find a collection of seven waterfalls here. Go on an adventurous hiking trail to the waterfall and cool off in its pure waters.

Sidemen Valley is a 90-minute ride northeast of Ubud. This enchanting valley of small villages is built among rice terraces. It is a peaceful respite from the popular beaches. There are retreats such as yoga, meditation focused on general well-being. Other activities such as rafting and hiking can be found around this area as well. 

How to get around 

There is no public transport in Bali. So you will have to either hire a motorbike or scooter or take taxis through apps like Uber. There is also the possibility of hiring a driver. Daily rentals for a scooter can cost from 3.50 $ per day at its lowest.

Bali caters to travellers of all kind. The islands have become a favourite for backpackers and budget travellers due to the affordable living costs and amazing accommodation options.
