What are the Options for Flying into Dubai?

There are several direct flights getting into Dubai from both the UK and USA. You can choose Emirates, British Airways, and other prominent airlines offering direct flights to the country. The peak time to visit Dubai is July, Christmas, and half-term holidays for schools. If you are travelling to Dubai on a budget, consider flying during the Ramadan period or the hottest season in Dubai, which falls between June and September. Travelling during the off-peak season has many benefits, aside from the less-expensive airfares. Most hotels give out some great offers that you can use for stays at luxury resorts in Dubai such as the Palm Jumeirah resorts. This man-made archipelago is a fabulous place and accommodation there is quite exotic. Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort and others are some of the popular options to look for.

Travelling by Road to Dubai

To drive in Dubai, you must possess a valid passport, international driving license, and a valid driving permit. If you are from North America, Pan-America, or Europe and don't possess an international driving license, you can obtain a temporary driving permit for the duration of your stay. To do so, you must be over 18 years of age and the vehicle must have third-party insurance. Check out the Arabian Automobile Association website for more details.

The network of roads in the UAE is beyond excellent. Boasting first-class roads and excellent connectivity, the roads in Dubai offer easy access to just about every town and village in the UAE, the most impressive being the multi-lane highway connecting Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

If you opt to drive your own car in Dubai, remember that in the UAE you must drive on the right-hand side. Speed limits are clearly marked, and anyone exceeding them will be picked up on camera with spot fines happening for even minor offences. No matter how minor your road mishap is, you will have to wait for the police to come and sort things out.

You can reach your Palm Jumeirah hotel via ferry too. The Jebel Ali Port and Port Rashid are about 30 kilometres from the city centre. Port Rashid caters to the growing number of cruise ships arriving in Dubai and is home to the Dubai Cruise Terminal.

You can take a ferry to Dubai from Iran or Sharjah. This is not the ideal means of travel for tourists though and even the timetables are not regular.
