How to Spend 03 Days in Yangon

If you think of having a weekend (preferably a long weekend) escape to Myanmar, do not hesitate to choose the capital city- Yangon as your destination. It's the largest city in the country and is full of many beautiful experiences that can delight the senses of every traveller. History, culture, glamour, and serenity are all part of the city and this guide will highlight some of the must-visit attractions here for you to include in your Yangon itinerary list.

First things first- choose a good hotel!

You are going to spend three days in Yangon, and the first thing you will have to do is to find a good hotel to stay in. Many accommodation options in the city cater to different budget requirements but always opt for a good hotel that has adequate facilities and luxury. Once you choose a good hotel in Yangon the likes of PARKROYAL Yangon, you are sure to enjoy your time and with the great dining options they offer, you can also explore the amazing food culture in Yangon, and in Myanmar as a whole.

Visit the largest market in the city

How about doing some good shopping before you visit any of the attractions in the city? If that sounds like a great idea, you just have to head to the Bogyoke Aung San Market- the best place to go shopping in the city. Be it jewelry (made of gems sometimes), food, or fabrics, this market has it all. Do not forget to purchase a 'longyi' (a traditional dress) during your market visit and you'll love the convenience that it brings. It is worn by both men and women and it does look good on both.

Visit the most magnificent place in Myanmar

Yes, Myanmar (especially Yangon) has many significant temples, but the Shwedagon Pagoda is the most significant and the most magnificent one of all. To explore a temple covered with gold is rare, and that's why everyone who visits Yangon does not miss visiting this temple even for a short time. If you are a lady, make sure you wear a decent dress (covering shoulders and legs) to this temple as a mark of respect.

Visit the other temples too

Another well-visited temple in the city is the Sule Pagoda which is located in the middle of the city. This is best to be visited on the same tour you visit the market. The temple is brighter at night with lights, and you will love everything about the architecture and sculpture of the temple as well. Chaukhtatgyi Paya is also another temple known for its amazing picturesqueness, and what people love the most about this temple is its massive and well-decorated statue of Lord Buddha which is somewhat different from other Buddha statues you normally see.

Explore the local lifestyles

You are one a three-day vacation to Yangon and you will find it a little hard to do many things during this limited amount of time. So, what suites best is for you is to travel around Yangon by circle line train. The train station is located in Kunchan Road and you may start your train ride from here. The panoramic views of the city are all yours to enjoy and during the ride, you may also explore how the daily lives of local people have been shaped. But- Do remember! This is not going to be a luxury train ride, because you won't even find a bathroom here. The whole ride takes about 3 hours (minimum) but it's going to be interesting!
