How to Pack Your Bag for Maldives Vacation

When packing your bags for the Maldives you mustn't miss out on anything important. The reason being you will be lodged at a resort on an island that is just for the resort in itself. There will be no convenience stores around to purchase a replacement for that last-minute something you forgot to pack. Here are a few pointers on what to pack. Once you are done reading, prepare a checklist and get started.

Clothing for the Maldives

Since the Maldives boasts a wonderful tropical climate, the weather here is on the warm side. Some days can even get hotter and hotter. The evenings are pleasantly warm, and the nights can be a bit chilly sometimes with the sea breeze coming in strong. Considering these factors, you’ll need to pack very light clothing.

The ladies can opt for loose tees and kaftans, sarongs and sundresses. A maxi dress or two will not go waste either. Many a Maldives resort offer villas with private pools, so in this case, you can enjoy a relaxing dip in your bikini. Bring at least 2 of your favourite bikinis for a fun splash in the pool. Dinners at hotels like Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort can require you to be dressed in smart casual. Pack in a cocktail dress in case you feel like going all out. When it comes to shoes, again, most of the resorts have a “no shoes” policy. This means that no sooner you arrive, you could take your shoes off and there is absolutely no need to put them back on till it’s time for you to leave. However, a few would prefer footwear for the restaurants. Packing heels is of no use as they will only get damaged in the sand, if flats are not enough, you can pack in some wedge heels.

When it comes to men, the best options would be cotton tees and beach shorts. Maybe a pair of jeans or logger pants for the evenings. A sweater or two would be great as well as some evenings tend to get cooler than usual.

Accessories

A beach destination would mean dressing simple but not too simple. To fix the perfect balance, ladies…pack up a few accessories! If your clothing is too casual, you can always spice it up a little for the evening with a pair of cool earrings, a necklace and maybe a bracelet as well. Keep in mind that because of the humidity, you are bound to have a bad hair day almost every day in the Maldives. So, throw in a few hairbands and clips to help deal with frizzy hair.

Another very important accessory for both ladies and gents would be sunglasses. Pack in at least 2 pairs just in case you lose one or drop it into the ocean while on a boat ride. Make sure that your sunglasses are equipped with high UV protection.

Go green with toiletries

Most of the products we use – shampoo, conditioner and even sunscreen can damage the environment. The marine life in the Maldives is quite sensitive, so try your best to opt for products that use natural ingredients. This way, valuable marine life will be protected. Also, pack in some mosquito repellent to keep the bugs away. Coconut oil is a wonderful moisturizer, hair oil and even good for the nails, so pack a bottle in as well.

Electricals

The Maldives looks so picturesque that you won’t be able to resist taking pictures. Smartphones will definitely get those beautiful captures. Still, if you happen to have a great camera this would do much better. If you plan on recording your snorkel or dive, a GoPro is the best option. Throw in an adapter too so that plugging in your electricals will not be an issue.
