While you're out and about in Southeast Asia, what better place to have a good day out than in the tiny island nation that is off the coast of the Malaysian Peninsular. Singapore, a country that has achieved far greater things than its tiny area, is a spectacular destination to enjoy a day trip. Here's how you can plan an enthusiastic one day trip in the depths of Singapore.

Know before you go

You'd be delighted to know that Singapore's a year-round destination. It's typically hot and humid all year round like most other countries in Southeast Asia. Nevertheless, a year in Singapore can be defined by two seasons called the wet and dry seasons, however indistinctive they might be. The Southwest and the Northeast monsoons affect the Singaporean weather at different times of the year. However, the period between February and March is identified as the best time to be in Singapore, as it's when the country is at its driest. However, a sudden downpour must be anticipated as a rainy cloud is never too far away in Singapore.

Singapore isn't a destination that can be explored in a rush. There's more than plenty to do and see around in this country. So your one-day itinerary must be planned with few selected sites to explore without burdening you with a hefty schedule. Once you arrive in Singapore, you can kick off your morning by grabbing an early morning bite in its magnificent Chinatown, which is one of the fanciest neighbouroods in Singapore. In contrast to the futuristic attractions of the Central Business district of the country, Chinatown speaks out of its rich heritage with its Peranakan shop houses that offer marvellous photo opportunities. Once you've had your share of Chinatown, you can hop onto Singapore's impressive MRT system and head over to Little India, which lies adjacent to many hotel suites in Singapore the likes of PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road Singapore. It is one of the most colourful and bustling areas that one-must visit in the country. Prepare to be mesmerised by the colours and the vibrance of this location as it is where you'd be greeted with an entirely different culture. From tandoori joints to glittery temples, Little India of Singapore offers you a bit of the essence of the authentic Hindu culture. Keep your eyes peeled for the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, which has the most fascinating facade you'd ever see with its intricate carvings and designs. Don't forget to grab a mid-day snack from the Tekka centre, which is a great place to grab a savoury Indian snack.

One day itinerary overview – second half of the day

With the sun bearing down upon your heads, the afternoon calls for some shopping in Orchard Road for the ultimate shopping experience in Singapore. Orchard Road offers more than what meets the eye, with its recreational opportunities such as climbing the Via Ferrata, the tallest indoor climbing wall in Singapore, experience urban farming, and recreate your childhood fantasies at BOUNCE Singapore. After time well-spend in Orchard road, you can jump back in the MRT and head over to Clarke Quay possibly to enjoy some refreshing drinks with your loved ones. Although Clarke Quay is more famous for its nightlife, the amazing river views are a must-experience. Then you can go for a refreshing stroll over at the Marina Bay, soaking in the breathtaking views of its spectacular backdrop that is ideal for that iconic snap. Your trip to Singapore wouldn't be worth it if you don't take a tour of its majestic Gardens by the Bay. Walk over to Marina Bay's escalators which would bring you to this stunningly beautiful flora galore. Draped in the evening dusk, the futuristic supertree groves would look ethereal even at a distance.

Other important tips

Travel insurance is a must-have even when it's just a one-day trip. It can help you to guard yourself in sudden emergencies in terms of medical costs and stolen baggage. Getting an internet connection wouldn't come off a problem when you're in Singapore as Wi-Fi is freely available in most restaurants and throughout other places of the country. Renting a 4G Wi-Fi router is even better as you wouldn't have to venture far from your place of comfort in search of an open Wi-Fi network. However, make sure that you don't access any private network by hacking or through any other means as this is considered a punishable offense in this country.
